Peggy Sue's Diner, Barcelona

Bored of bocadillos? Tired of tapas? Boiling your balls off and feeling a bit like you wish that you, too, had left Barcelona for the month of August like all the others who flocked to cooler climes?
Yes, yes and yes?
Well, never fear because Peggy Sue's Diner is air-conditioned to the max! Bright, breezy and (more or less) brand spanking-sparkling new, this "American" diner is a cutesy little lunch spot. I use inverted commas because there isn't a root beer float or a peanut butter milkshake in sight, which was slightly disappointing but where their menu lacks authenticity, the decor makes its amends. See for yourself:
We quaffed a lovely pink lemonade (because they were out of cherry cola) followed by a Peggy Sue burger and chips. There are many burgers to be had in Barcelona but what was different at the diner was the simplicity and the quality. With other burger joints, they have a habit of cramming everything they can into one bun and therefore rendering you a total sloppy, pig-faced git with guacamole on your lapel. This isn't a problem, of course, but sometimes a girl has to be a little more classy. At Peggy Sue's you have a delicious and delightfully formed burger with a crisp bun and a gentle layering of mustard and onion relish. Perfect as far as I am concerned!
All this for a mere 10€ each... also on the plus side, we burned most of the calories off by shimmying to Diana Ross on the jukebox!

You can find out more about Peggy Sue's Diner here on their funky little website.

Ciao ciao, xxx
