From Here to There...Sponsor Rob Roy!

Good morning all!
Well, as some of you know, my rather ambitious loved one has decided to whizz off on his motorcycle on a mammoth journey.
On the 17th of September, he will be departing from Barcelona and working his way through France and then onto Italy. From there, he will catch a ferry to Tunisia and then continue along his way through Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique and finally he will reach Durban, his home.
The trip wasn't initially planned to raise money for charity but then we heard of a really good cause and he decided to combine the two. Riders for Health is the organisation in question. Below you can read an extract from their website about what they do:

In Africa millions of people are dying from easily-preventable diseases because health workers do not have the reliable transport to reach them. By ensuring health workers have access to vehicles that never break down Riders for Health is making sure millions of people across Africa receive regular, reliable health care, often for the first time in their lives.

Currently, 30,000 children under the age of five die every day across the developing world from preventable or treatable diseases including measles, diarrhoea and malaria. Immunization programmes still do not reach 30 million children each year. A quarter of a million women die each year in Africa because of complications during pregnancy or childbirth. Access to skilled attendants could reduce these deaths but more than half of women in sub-Saharan Africa give birth alone or with untrained assistance.

You can read more about Riders for Health on their website: here.
