The month of May is one of my top three months of the year - a pleasant mixture of spring showers, flowers, sunshine and long weekends.
This one has been particularly spectacular as I have finally found my very own home with a dashing blue eyed boy and a friend- just one street from where my grandparents and great-grandparents lived in the forties and fifties. On my first evening, I went for a stroll and made my father a short video of the area where he remembers frolicking by the red letter box and climbing the stone steps to the house.
I do have to wonder, do places like these have a certain something that pull you to them? As if somehow we ended up here by fate?
We've been busy putting our mark on the place and uncovering treasures along the way.
I've been out on the hunt for bits and pieces. Having moved so much in the last ten years, I've little to show for myself in the way of possessions. It's comforting to think that maybe from now on, I'll be able to invest in my home, rather than packing up and putting my pieces in the street for any old Tom, Dick or Harry to make off with.
What's more, I've been able to sift through old photos and letters and there have been some wonderful discoveries.
It's no secret that I love to cook and so the majority of my time has
been spent in the kitchen in the evenings, listening to the radio and
watching the light fade from our big, bay window. Turn your eyes to my Instagram where you'll find all sorts of delights.
And finally, now we've had a while to fill our bellies and grow accustomed to where will be our home for times to come, we have taken to the garden to make friends with the neighbourhood cats and set off on foot to find all sorts of new places to tell you about.
Stay tuned!
