An Interview with The Well-Travelled Postcard

http://thewell-travelledpostcard.com/Portait in Italy
Sometimes you meet people and just hit it off straight away.

I met Virginia over a year ago now when I first started working in PR and almost instantly it was like talking to an old friend.

Her blog is lovely, one of kind and driven by her real love for travel, books and people.

If you haven't read it, I strongly recommend that you do.
In the meantime, you can find out more below in an exclusive interview.

Where are you from and why do you love where you live?

I grew up in Hampshire but since 18 I've been living all over the place really! Chile, Italy, Spain, Exeter, London... Right now though I'm living in Madrid for a couple of months, but I consider London as my real home. London is an incredible city but is missing one key ingredient: the sea. I loved growing up near to the sea on the south coast and I often get pangs of longing for the scent of salty air and the squawks of seagulls. And Madrid is even further from the sea than London!

When did you start your blog and why?

I started The Well-Travelled Postcard straight after my final exams of university. I studied Spanish, Italian & Portuguese at university so had spent my third year abroad and had been doing a lot of travelling. I knew that the working world would give me much less free time for travelling, so I wanted to use my blog as a way to travel vicariously and to stop myself being swallowed up by the London bubble! In my teens I had wanted to be a writer/journalist, and my passion is travel, so starting a travel blog seemed like the perfect way to do both these things.

Describe your blog in three words

Explore. Dream. Discover. (a Mark Twain quote about travel)

How do we know each other?

You got in touch after stumbling upon my travel blog and we bonded over a Starbucks and both our stories of living in Spain! You used to live in Zamora and Barcelona, and I in Córdoba and now in Madrid! I instantly hit it off with anyone who has the same love of travelling and living abroad as I do (and I can talk for hours and hours on the topic of travelling, as it's invariably the topic I think about the most) so we had plenty to talk about!

An Interview with Sally Tangle

It's that time of the week again where I share with you my favourite people - be they bloggers or brands that I think are rather special.

Sally Tangle is a gal in whom I see little pieces of myself, not only because her name is Sally but for her dreamy pictures of the beautiful location in which she lives that reminds me of all those wonderful times I spent in the very middle of nowhere, Kent.

I especially like the way she writes, like these musings on January:

Whilst it is wonderful to eat and drink and be merry and to give and receive presents until the cows come home; it is also okay to just be quiet and tell someone how special they are instead.  Sometimes when everything is stripped back to basics, that's when you get chance to be still and to enjoy the little tiny things that make us all appreciate being here in the great big world.  Whether that is a really good cup of tea, the smell of freshly washed sheets and clean hair, or just a rather pretty SUNSET.  It's your choice, and it can be anything in the whole world.

She also captures lovely landscape perspectives in her photos and makes a great gal to chat to via email or Twitter during a tea break.

Dear readers, meet Sally Tangle:
Blogger Sally Tangle interviewed by The Cafe Cat
Where are you from and why do you love where you live?
I am originally from Stockport (near the land of Manchester), but my parents moved about a lot when I was a whipper snapper and they ended up in bonny Scotland when I was 13.  I moved down from there to Carlisle, which is just in England and in beautiful Cumbria, when I was 17 to study Media at uni here.  And here I am still.  I like this little part of the world because it's an arty, creative little city which is really more of a jolly big town and you are only a hop skip and a jump away from all that is green and good.

When did you start your blog and why?
Sallytangle came from many years of being known around and about these parts as the girl with the bright tights/crazy printed trousers/loopy hats.  And also as a little bit of a somewhere to channel my creative juices.  Although it started out as more of fashion diary, I like how it has evolved into more of an online lifestyle scrapbook of being me and somewhere I can share all my little adventures and appreciation of all the little things that make me happy.
Describe your blog in three words
Dreamy, inspirational and refreshing? Well that's what I hope for it to be!
How did we meet?
It was fate really.  Our eyes met across a busy blogger chat on twitter.  I knew it was the start of something special and I hope that we will have a long and lasting relationship full of hashtags, lols and retweets.
Thanks, Sally!

If you're not already a reader of her blog, do be sure to show her your love and support over at Sallytangle.

An Interview with I'm Being Erica

Good morning folks,

It's Friday, which only means one thing over here on the Cafe Cat... BLOGGER SPOTLIGHTS.
Today I'd like to introduce you to Erica from I'm Being Erica, who just so happens to be another kindred spirit living in London and blogging about her mischievous ways in the city.

We were fortunate enough to meet in person a couple of weeks back. She turned to me and said 'You're cute' and I replied 'YOU'RE cute' and the next thing I knew, we were slurping tea and chatting the blogosphere.

Erica and I often dip in and out of emails all day, musing over life and all the obstacles that come as being in your 'mid twenties'. I even wrote an article about my personal story over on her blog lately and I sit in my own spot as a sponsor on her sidebar.

Be sure to find out more about Erica below and do stop by to say hello. She makes a lovely pal indeed.

Where are you from and why do you love where you live?
I was born and raised in the outer suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. at 21 I'd had enough of the same people and the same parties, so I bailed out and left for pastures new... since them have lived in New Zealand, Melbourne, Essex and now London, and I'm bloody glad I do. I love everything about London; initially the vitality of the city, the colour, the characters and the noises, and now more so the anonymity; nobody knows or cares what you do, and i always feel like a bit of a secret agent...plus, there's coffee and cake on every corner.

When did you start your blog and why?
I started it initially as a way to keep my friends and family back home in the loop and up to speed with my 'London life'. stories of outdoor markets, vintage fairs and nights in the west end flowed more and more frequently, and within the year, i had a pretty fun hobby on my hands! through my blog I've had so many amazing experiences and met so many wonderful people... I'd give it all up to just keep the people, but touch wood this ride doesn't end soon.

Describe your blog in three words
Teacups, bruises, cheesecake

 How did we meet?
I think officially it was via email... I'd seen a tweet of yours RT by someone on Twitter, asking for lifestyle bloggers to get in touch. Feeling I could happily tick that box, I did! Since then you've been a happy addition to my daily work procrastination schedule, and last week we finally met in person! And over tea no less! More of that please.

An Interview with Lisa Eats World

Good morning all,

Today's featured blogger is the one and only Lisa from Lisa Eats World, who I befriended months back. I knew she was a kindred spirit when I saw she liked cats, food and travel- a girl after my own heart- so I eventually persuaded her to meet me for cake and tea and we've since been bosom blog pals. She really is a sweet treat and the loveliest of ladies.

If you haven't read her blog before, you need to start now please, especially if you live in London.

Let's find out a little more...
Where are you from and why do you love where you live?

I'm originally from sunny Australia and have spent a lot of time wandering the globe in search of the best food and sights. I have spent the last couple of years based in London which has been an AMAZING experience. It's a city full of life and energy with fantastic restaurants, galleries and markets around every corner. And it's only a short flight away from some of my fave European cities like Paris and Barcelona. I have my sights set on a Melbourne base next to explore the Aussie Outback and have more food adventures in Asia.

When did you start your blog and why?

I started this job last year to share two of my biggest passions in life - food and travel. Ever since I was a wee little baby, I have always been obsessed with food and have a particular appreciation for pretty sweet things like cupcakes, macarons and brownies. At first, I was so shy about my blog and so nervous to hit the publish button but I am so glad I finally did it. It has opened up a world of fun opportunities and I never expected I would meet such a lovely network of people from around the world.
(Lisa in the beautiful Barcelona)

Describe your blog in three words

Yummy, globe-trotting, cheerful.

How did we meet?

I met the lovely Sally after series of hilarious texts and emails about cats, chocolate and cake. We finally met over cake at Ottolenghi and it was love at first bite. She is every bit as beautiful in person as she is over email. I look forward to many more international pen pal chit chats in the future and sharing cat tales.

So, dear readers, that's Lisa from Lisa Eats World who is sadly leaving us to start anew in Melbourne.
I'm sure she'll be bringing us international stories so it's not goodbye, but hello to the Southern Hemisphere!
While I'm going to miss her, I'll be sure to follow her blog closely and I hope you will too.

Blogger Spotlight- The Tea Drinking English Rose

In the blogosphere, there are so many people to discover popping up with their thoughts across different platforms. Some have been doing so for years, some bring their fresh slice of pie.
I've been blogging on and off for four years and along that way, I've had the benefit of meeting many a gorgeous person- that's the delight of blogging, it's a platform for kindred spirits.

The Tea Drinking English Rose is a young lady who I have followed for a long while. While bloggers have come and gone, she has remained in her little corner of the internet, scribbling away about the pleasures in her life, which mostly feature tea, ice cream and pastel colours.
The best blogs I feel, often focus in on the small treasures of the every day and Charlotte is very true to this. She never compromises her blogger integrity and reading her articles is very much like reading the musings of a friend, as if she were your trusted childhood pal. She kindly shares her thoughts and dreams in a candy-floss fashion but is always honest about what's on her mind, also lending a diary-like and endearing quality to her entries.
Whimsical, quaint and genuinely sweet as sugar, Charlotte is one of few blogs I read on a regular basis and I've come to think of her as an old pal, even though we've never met- the best kind of bloggers can do this, like mini novelists of the online world that you just want to read more about.

An Interview with Hello Matilde

Dear readers,

Welcome to my new weekly edition of Follow Friday. I'll be introducing you to my favourite blogs and some of the great people I have the pleasure of meeting online.
To kick start the series, I'd like to show you a beautiful blog by Carolina of Hello Matilde, who basically does what I have tried to do on the City Kitty but a hell of a lot better.

Writing beautifully in both English and Spanish, Hello Matilde showcases some of Barcelona's best design shops and sweet spots and endlessly inspires me to continue finding and writing about independent businesses.
Her use of colour and composition in her photography is seamless, airy and bright and as an individual, she is sweet and thoughtful. We exchanged postcards earlier this year and she's firmly one of the nicest gals I know in the wide blogsophere.
I love the way she designs these mood boards to tell stories about other people. Whether you understand Spanish or not, the concept is visually fantastic.

If you're visiting Barcelona, her website is a must-visit for ideas and all those secret places you wouldn't have known about otherwise.

I'm looking forward to visiting in October and finding all these little gems she has written about and even meeting for tea with this bloguera herself.
