'You do not understand men.'
You scolded me
A final statement
A parting blow
'You do not understand men.'
As if understanding men
Is something very, very important
And I missed the memo
'You do not understand men.'
As if understanding men
Every single last one of you
Is my responsibility
'You do not understand men.'
As if understanding men
Is a great prize
That I don't have the luck to win
'You do not understand men.'
As if understanding men
Is commendable
And I don't warrant a merit
'You do not understand men.'
As if I understand myself
And understanding men
Is just so easy and finite
'You do not understand men.'
As if understanding men
Is a privilege
That I don't deserve
'You do not understand men.'
As if understanding men
Should be accomplished
In a mere moment
'You do not understand men.'
As if understanding
Is a one way street
That comes to an end
'You do not understand men.'
You scolded me
As a violent deflection
From understanding you at all
Captured In Words
I have a terrible habit of never finishing what I set out to write and you know what? That’s fine. For me, writing is a progressive, evolutionary act and so I try to publish in short, first drafts to give myself less of a hard time and the freedom to capture whatever I feel at a given time.
You can follow along on Instagram with the hashtag. I’d love it if you added your own, too.
