Brilliantly Blue | #CapturedInWords

I've known dandy peacocks
Strutting, swaggering
Blazing brilliantly blue
Dancing to conquer
Ruffled, enraptured
Hens hearts fractured
One before the next
One after the other

I once knew a woman
Who owned a lone cock
Weeping in the mirror
She gifted his solitude
In his image he struck
At the air
In a sudden terrible screech
That awful, wretched sound

I dreamt that a swan
Swiftly took his throat
And his life
Breaking his bleats
And his neck in two
He cried out no more
I wept and clapped in anguished delight

#CapturedInWords

I have a terrible habit of never finishing what I set out to write and you know what? That’s fine. For me, writing is a progressive, evolutionary act and so I try to publish in short, first drafts to give myself less of a hard time and the freedom to capture whatever I feel at a given time.

You can follow along on Instagram with the hashtag. I’d love it if you added your own, too.
