I came to meet a nighthawk
As the moon it swelled to its fullest fill
Heavy, held aloft on the shoulders of the horizon
As it rose, so we sank
Folding into each other's narrative
The nighthawk relentlessly shining through perceptive eyes
Head cocked to one side in piercing inquisition
My words that sputtered like an old tap at first
But purred like a cat
As he undid me with his gaze
Silence fell
And fall we did too
As that full moon rose higher, swelled further still
And his wings they cloaked me over in a dark embrace
And swept us away into the night
