A Cat's Life #9

Dearest readers,

How are we? Hasn't it been grey? The English weather is so unpredictable and often sullen but I love it. This week the long lane has been heavy with the scent of apple blossom and clouds. The woods are brimming with bluebells that have burst up through the dead leaves of last autumn, just going to show that if we wait patiently, good things will and do come.
This brings me to my latest piece of news.

I have a new job and for once, it's one that I actually want. After stamping my feet last summer and sticking my middle finger up to a job that paid the bills but made me unhappy, I embarked on a journey to carve myself a path towards things I wanted to do. There were times when I felt like everything was totally against me and even the simplest things weren't going right. I wondered if I ever should have left Barcelona but I kept at it. I laughed at my own frustrations, wiped away tears and kept walking

My work on this path is most certainly not finished but I am standing back, taking a deep breath and admiring my handy work. What's more, having announced my news today, the response from my friends and family has been really rather touching and encouraging. My sister wrote a whole article about it here. She's certainly right when she writes that I've always been true to myself and pursued my own interests. My very first school report said a similar thing in an amused tone 'There are routines the children are expected to follow but Sally just seems happy to simply go about doing her own thing. She's a very sweet and kind girl who loves to give affectionate hugs and eat honey sandwiches.'

That just about sums it up nicely I think and I still love honey sandwiches once in awhile.

And so it is that another chapter of the story opens. I must pack my bags again, leaving behind the beautiful Kentish countryside and forge myself a new life in London. I'm both excited and sad at the same time because I won't get to see summer unfolding slowly on the lane or in the orchards and the woods.

But I'll be in one of the world's most exciting capital cities with plenty of stories to share and tell.
Wish me luck!

  1. Wow! I heard this from Curious Cat first, otherwise known as your sister, but I am just as happy to read it on your blog. I wonder where this new and exciting path is taking you. Or rather, what you're going to sprinkle on the path you are going to create for yourself!
